How to summarise a PDF with AI

Summarising a 60-page chapter is the easy part. Making the summary useful for an exam is what most people skip.

1. Upload the whole file, not screenshots

Screenshots lose structure. Upload the PDF so headings and sections survive into the summary.

2. Ask for structure, not prose

A good study summary has: key concepts, definitions, formulas or dates, and likely exam questions.

3. Keep the source next to the summary

You will need to check a claim. Keep the original document searchable alongside the notes.

4. Convert to flashcards immediately

Reading a summary is passive. Turn it into questions the same day.

5. Combine PDFs with the class

A chapter plus the lecture recording gives a far better picture than either alone.

In Bloom, you upload the PDF, get notes, flashcards, a quiz, a mind map and chat, and can study it together with other files in Multi-File Mode.
